• ASCI and Goafest 2012 Announce winners of the ?ASCI Mobile Movie Challenge? during the Creative Abbys

    Mumbai: The Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI) today announced the winners of the ?ASCI Mobile Movie Challenge? during the closing event of Goafest 2012, the Creative Abbys. The competition conducted to promote responsible creativity, and to encourage self regulation in Advertising, under the theme of ?Creativity with a conscience? garnered huge public support during the 3 day ad-fest.

    The winning entries came from team Leo Burnett consisting of Nikhil Pai, Abhineet Agarwal & Almas Ahmed and team O&M consisting of Parth Gadhiya, Harshad Salian, Aishik Sengupta . All the six winners received an iPad sponsored by media house, Rajasthan Patrika. The competition received a total of 120 registered entries through 41 mobile movies, from across the country. Of all the movies registered, 8 were shortlisted by a jury of eminent ad-makers and 2 were chosen as winners.

    As per the contest, teams of 3 young professionals, under the age of 30 years, were asked to create a short film (between 30 and 60 seconds), using their mobile handsets. Each team was assigned a mentor film maker who guided the team members on the nuances of film making. The teams were asked to create the art forms on one of the four briefs provided by ASCI which were based on the four tenets of ASCI?s code of self regulation:

    1. Honesty & truthfulness in advertising
    2. Decency in advertising as per generally accepted societal norms
    3. Safety & avoiding exploitation of vulnerable sections of society, especially children
    4. Fairness in competition

    According to, Mr. Subhash Kamath, ASCI Board Member, ?Through this competition, we wanted to inspire young professionals to abide by the guidelines set by ASCI and implement the same in their work. We?re extremely happy with the kind of response we?ve received and thankful for all the support. Next year, we hope to make this initiative larger and stronger by reaching out to many more media, advertising professionals.?

    The films were showcased at Goafest 2012 and uploaded on youtube.com and select online portals, so as to inspire professionals to understand the importance of self-regulation in advertising. The entries will be judged by a jury of top creative directors and film makes of the industry.

  • UTV associates with Goafest for the third time

    MUMBAI: UTV continues its association with Goafest for the third straight year.

    Bindass, UTV Stars, UTV Movies and UTV Action have lined up activities for the festival that kicks off on 19 April.

    The channels will be present at the event across three days. Bindass will extend their relaunch campaign to the trade fraternity in Goa not only in the main Goafest venue (Zuri White Sands ? Varca beach) but will have a prominent presence in South Goa in the form of outdoor. Rain dance ? one of main properties Bindass has been taking up year-on-year - will also be supported by an innovative installation along with distribution of merchandise (flip flops and wayfarers).

    UTV Movies plans to marry the core proposition of the channel ?Jeeyo Bollywood? (Bollywood Movies) and the core competency of this fest (creativity). In this zone one can come and either use their creativity and finish Bollywood dialogues in their own way and get a customised T-Shirt with their line and name on the T-shirt or play some fun Bollywood games (like trivia or dartboard) and win specially crafted minimalistic Bollywood T Shirts ? a kind of a T-shirt to be introduced into the market by UTV Movies at Goafest.

    UTV Broadcasting head marketing Kunal Mukherjee said, "Goafest is one platform where the entire creative and media fraternity comes together making it the perfect opportunity for our network to interact with them. Having successfully established UTV as a brand at Goafest, we have made the network?s presence felt across the festival in the past two years. In the third year of our association with the festival we intend to bring in more fun and zest for all with thrilling brand activities like splendid parties, exhilarating water sports, rollicking rain dances, game kiosks and much more."

    UTV Stars is sponsoring the media night party on 20 April which is followed by the media night awards. DJ Akhtar will perform at the event. Also, before entering, each delegate can have themselves photographed with Bollywood celebs (life size poster).

  • Goafest 2012 announces additional speakers for Knowledge Seminars

    Mumbai: Adding to the galaxy of globally celebrated speakers for Knowledge Seminars at Goafest 2012, the Goafest Committee announced three more names of speakers-Erik Vervroegen, International Creative Director, Publicis Worldwide; and Lucas Watson, Vice President, Global Sales and Industry Marketing, YouTube and Simon Wardle, Chief Strategy Officer, Octagon.

    Commenting on the lineup of globally celebrated speakers for Goafest 2012 Knowledge Seminars, Mr. MG. Parameswaran, Member of Goafest 2012 Committee said, ?At Goafest 2012, we have brought together not just great speakers, but thought disrupters. Our main aim is to enable the transference of thought provoking ideas, radical enough to stimulate actions that truly stand the test of time.?

    Mr. Arvind Sharma, Chairman, Goafest 2012 Organizing Committee added, ?We want the young minds to get an opportunity to engage in conversation with extremely distinguished personalities of the communications industry. Getting these stalwarts of the industry to speak at the Knowledge Seminars will prove a great learning experience for the younger generation and will encourage them to do great work.?

    Goafest 2012 has received tremendous amount of registrations. The ?Marketing Wizards? initiative has been an instant hit with the young marketers and a lot more participation from young clients is expected this year.
