• Life OK to premiere 'Hindustan ke Hunarbaaz' on 22 Oct

    MUMBAI: Life OK is all set to launch a new reality show that intends to find the hidden talent in children across India.

    Titled ‘Hindustan ke Hunarbaaz‘, the show runs the tagline ? ‘Harr Bacha Hai Khaas‘.

    Starting 22 October, it will air Monday to Friday at 7 pm and 9 pm.

    Bollywood actor Sonali Bendre and choreographer Terence Lewis will feature as ‘Cool Gurus‘ on the show.

    According to the channel, the show will be guided by a ‘No-Competition, No-Tears‘ principle. It will act as a ready platform for all the participating children to harness their "special" skills in a format that‘s devoid of any performance pressure.

    Participating children will showcase their talent without any inhibitions of being judged, bringing out the best in them and making each and every one a winner in a unique way. Bendre and Lewis will encourage these kids and mentor them throughout.

    Life OK general manager Ajit Thakur said, "Hindustan ke Hunarbaaz is a first-of-its kind show that doesn‘t promote the idea of competitiveness among children but instead hones their skills. This show is a natural extension of Life OK‘s mantra that promotes striving for more but without ignoring the pleasures of everyday life. We‘re confident that the audience will continue to appreciate our efforts in providing a wholesome entertainment experience."

  • Life OK to air 'Ram Leela' in 5-part series

    MUMBAI: Life OK is attempting to do something bigger now. As the channel will complete its one year of launch in two months, it is gearing up to launch a new offering on the occasion of Dussehra-Diwali.

    Life OK is coming up with a musical/dance drama on Lord Ram and his life titled ?Ram Leela?.

    The special five episodic series will air every Sunday at 8 pm starting from 21 October to 18 November.

    According to the channel, this will be the first time that there will be a television show that will have everyone related to Bollywood working on it, be it the star cast that includes Rajneesh Duggal (as Ram), Richa (as Sita) or the music composer Anu Malik or the lyricist Swanand Kirikire. The channel has roped in Ajay Devgn as the narrator of the show.

    Life OK business head Ajit Thakur said, ?For us, it was a very natural thing to come up with something like this. Life OK has always talked about stories where there is relevance to today where one can learn something. In the period between Dussehra and Diwali, Ram?s story is something that every Hindu talks about. So we wanted to tell them Ram?s story and we have packaged it in a way which is very ?life ok?. There are 21 songs that we have created in five episodes. It will have lot more entertainment and it is on a different scale."

    Thakur feels that the biggest marketing of the show is to get Devgn on board to present the show. The show is being promoted heavily including across 50 channels outside Star Network.

    The print campaign will roll out on the day of launch across newspapers. Since it is a musical show, the channel also plans to tie up with radio channels to promote the show.

    The channel has roped in Emami, Lux and Cycle Agarbattis as associate sponsors while it is still talking to brands for presenting sponsorship.

  • Life OK?s new fiction show to expose reality of reality TV

    MUMBAI: Life OK, the Hindi general entertainment channel from Star India stable, is launching a new fiction ?Aasman Se Aagey? on 23 April.

    The show will air every Monday to Friday at 10.30 pm.

    The show is an effort to lift the veil of glamour of talent shows and to reveal the cut throat competition in the reality TV world. It will show the pressure and the hastened mental metamorphosis of contestants from toddlers to adolescents to adults, the channel said.

    Aasmaan Se Aagey brings forth the ?reality of reality show? through the journey of a young girl, Meenaxi. A dancer by profession she dreams big and comes to Mumbai to participate in a reality show.

  • Life OK launches new fiction Amrit Manthan

    MUMBAI: Life OK, the newly launched Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) from Star India stable, is launching a new fiction property in the 8.20 pm band.

    Amrit Manthan will premiere on 26 February and air every Sunday to Saturday. Named Amrit Manthan, the show will highlight the importance of a strong value system and familial ties than riches and social status.

    To accommodate the show, the channel is shifting the 8.20 pm show Smile Please to 10.40 pm. Also, the channel has decided to run Amrit Manthan for 40 minutes in the first week. In order to adjust, 8.40 pm show Tum Dena Saath Mera will take a break for one week.

    Amrit Manthan is a royal drama set in Punjab and is based on the story of two sisters, Amrit and Nimrit, who regress from being best friends to the worst of enemies, an animosity that is sparked by a dwindling dynasty, a facade of royal wealth and excessive pride and greed.

    Life OK GM Ajit Thakur says, ?Life OK has always prided itself in creating unique and engaging content for the viewers that is also very relatable. In keeping with this promise, Amrit Manthan truly stands out against the various sibling stories on television as this show highlights the ?rivalry? between two sisters a huge contrast to the usual ?bonding? that has formed the crux of many stories. The show also attempts to bring to fore the imbalances of life, highlighting how excessive pride and greed leads to ruined relationships.?

    The channel said that Amrit Manthan highlights a very key problem of today?s imbalanced life ? that excessive pride and greed can ruin relationships. It displays the gnawing importance given to wealth and social status by society today.

    Amrit Manthan is produced by Rajan Shahi Productions that is known for its production values and story-telling vision.

    Life OK runs all the shows everyday with an average episode running time of 20 minutes, unlike other GECs.

  • Star One makes way for 'Life Ok'

    MUMBAI: Finally it is happening. Star One, the youth-focussed Hindi general entertainment channel from the Star India stable, is going to be replaced by a new channel ?Life OK? on 18 December.

    While Star One will cease operations on 16 December, Life OK will go on air on 18 December. The channel will also have a complete new set of programming and packaging sans ?Star? branding.

    The channel?s philosophy is ?cherishing what you have?. Life OK will remind and invite everyone to value the things that well and truly matter in life like family ties, relationships, valuing traditions and peace of mind, while in the eternal quest for more.

    Among the programming, Life OK will have shows like Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev (8 pm), Tum Dena Saath Mera (8.20 pm), Meri Maa (9 pm), Dil se di dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava?, Sapno Ke Bhanwar Mein and Hum Ne Li Hai...Shapath.

    Star India was in the process of transforming Star One since quite some time. It had appointed former Sony Entertainment channel EVP and business head Ajit Thakur as GM for Star One in August.

    The decision was fuelled by the fact that seven-year old Star One, which was giving a tough fight to Sony at some point of time, was lagging behind, garnering only 30-40 GRPs (gross rating points) on a weekly basis. At the same time Sab, the comedy family entertainment channel from Sony has also gone way ahead.
