NEW DELHI: Indian pubcaster Prasar Bharati's gains relating to Indian cricket rights may end up also benefiting Dish TV, the country's first KU-band DTH service promoted by Subhash Chandra companies.

The Chandra-promoted Zee Telefilms may be embattled in courts over cricket rights, but if Indian pubcasters Doordarshan and All India Radio broadcasts cricket matches, then subscribers of Dish TV would also get to see the telecast and that too, with a better quality of audio and video feeds.

The reason being that DD is slated to telecast the first Test against Australia, beginning 6 October, on both DD National and DD Sports, which are also available on the Dish TV platform.

Contacted by indiantelevision.com, a senior executive of Zee Telefilms admitted that the cricket matches could be seen on Dish TV too and "as of now" no communication to the contrary (like not having DD channels as part of the Dish TV platform) has been received by the company.

However, Prasar Bharati sources hinted that the "last word on this particular matter" has not yet been said. Asked to elaborate on the matter, the sources declined to do so.
