Mumbai: coto, the social community app exclusively for women, brings on board brand and marketing specialist Avi Kumar as chief business officer. Kumar brings with him in-depth consumer insights, brand proficiency and digital expertise, which will further accelerate business and marketing strategies for coto. In his new role, Kumar’s focus will be to design the narrative of converting coto’s in-app content to unique consumer insights that will set the platform apart from its contemporaries. He will report to coto founder and CEO Tarun Katial.

With a career spanning over a decade, Kumar has built a solid reputation as a marketer specialising in converting data to consumer insights and further to market strategy while delivering growth. He has been instrumental in building some of the largest brands across both the Media and FMCG categories.

Prior to coto, Kumar was the chief marketing officer at joint ventures and led the global marketing for its portfolio companies - IGP.com, Interflora India, IGP for business, and Masqa. Before that, Kumar was the head of marketing for ZEE5 and was responsible for the growth of the D2C and B2B businesses. He had also led marketing for BIG FM, before which he was associated with Oriflame.

Kumar’s vast experience has earned him many laurels like top 30 CMO (Iamai), Top 40 CMO 2019, and marketing professional of the year by ACEF, South Asia. He has also won several awards for campaigns at the New York Festivals, Emvies, DMAi, ET-brand excellence, IRF, and Golden Mikes.
