With
soccer fever rising in India as the FIFA World Cup draws
nearer, programmers are tripping over each other to offer
shows around footer, even if the fare looks like a poor
cousin of the programming that World Cup rights owner Ten
Sports is lining up. Asian broadcaster ESPN STAR Sports
(ESS) is plugging its World Cup Today show for which
it has managed to rope in integrated sponsorships from Kia,
Hyundai and Shiseido.
World Cup Today will offer soccer buffs news and updates
on the World Cup action. The half hour show, will air on
match days with studio discussions, predictions and analysis
by experts on the game, on both ESPN and Star Sports. Viewers
will be in a position to interact with experts and presenters
who will pose questions to them and their responses will
be aired on the show itself.
Besides World Cup Today, ESS has also secured sponsorship
for its news segment World Cup Report from JVC.
In addition to its television fare, ESPN Star Sports is
also planning online activites on espnstar.com around the
World Cup including discussion boards, live chat sessions,
daily competitions, World Cup news, interviews, match previews,
live scores, match predictions, match reports and statistics.
