Lovers of Guru Dutt's cinematic fare are in for a treat.
Come 20 May, Set
Max is running a Guru Dutt Festival daily at 1 pm. The festival
ends on 24 May.
An
intense and brooding protagonist, filmmaker Guru Dutt reflected
the changing social situation in India in the 1950s. He
created some of India's most socially conscious films like
Pyaasa, Kaagaz ke Phool and Baazi.
Guru Dutt was strongly influenced by the volatile socio-cultural
milieu of Bengal in the 1940s where he spent a large part
of his youth and which in turn inspired many of his films.
