Motorola Broadband Communications Sector has announced that Pace
Micro Technology has become the first set-top vendor to successfully
complete its MediaCipher Conditional Access Validation Testing.
With the Motorola validation, Pace can now offer digital set-tops
compatible with one of the most widely used and secure conditional
access (CA) technologies.
The first Pace set-top validated for use with MediaCipher CA technology
is the Pace DC-755 HD, which provides an additional choice for broadband
network operators selecting Motorola's access control system. Motorola
established the MediaCipher validation programme to enable qualified
set-top manufacturers to integrate Motorola's MediaCipher CA technology
into their digital set-top hardware platforms.
Currently installed in over 26 million digital set-tops worldwide,
Motorola's CA technology is recognised for its comprehensive access
control functionality and unsurpassed security. The Motorola MediaCipher
system --consisting of a headend-resident access control management
system and MediaCipher-enabled set-tops. It allows operators to
rapidly launch a variety of value-added services by supporting features
that include service authorisations - such as impulse pay-per-view;
authenticated report-back processing; near-video-on-demand; video-on-demand
(VOD); and secured software download.
An official release informs that the Pace DC-755 HD is one of
the most advanced high-definition (HD) digital cable set-tops in
its class. Developed with existing and future applications and services
in mind, the Pace DC-755 HD supports VOD, HD, and other advanced
applications, as well as OCAP.
