THE PROGRAMMING LOWDOWN

Star News has branded the soccer event Football Vishwavudh. The channel so far has been featuring a look at all 32 teams that have reached the finals and discovering how they qualified and exploring who'll be the key players. Through June, the channel will feature pre-match as well as post match analysis.

Star News will have shows wherein the channel will do SWOT analysis of the all the teams through various segments through the day.

Star Ananda, the sibling of Star News, is showcasing Berlin Er Ladi. The network will capitalize on the expertise of the former football players like P K Banerjee, Subroto Bhattacharya and Chuni Goswami. The network is also planning some special properties that will run through the soccer month.

NDTV India is airing a 13-part series Football ke Daavedaar, where the teams participating in the World Cup are being profiled. NDTV 24X7 is running a show titled Contenders, which encapsulates information on Fifa WC .

India TV will air Football Fever twice a day showcasing the best football action, news conferences, interviews and sidelights in a 30-minute presentation. The channel will also feature Top Stars, a 60-second clip profiling top personalities of the match of the day five to eight times. A special bug will appear while a match is being played.

India TV CEO Chintamani Rao says, "India TV will offer a unique mix of content that’s aimed to delight our audiences and afford sharply-focused exposure opportunities to our valued advertisers. The key properties will emerge from our special tie-ups with international broadcasters."

Soccer Deewane will showcase who the celebrities are rooting for. Fan Mania will feature trivia and visuals around fans.

Zee News will hold special programmes that will extensively cover the soccer World Cup. The channel will air Duniya Hai Goal, a half an hour special programme on the thrills and actions of the 2006 Fifa World Cup.This bulletin will continue till the finale on 9 July.

"In the run-up to the World Cup we have already on air a half hour programme called The Greatest Show on Earth featured at 10.30 am and 10.30 pm on weekdays and at 12 pm and 6 pm on Sundays. Once the Fifa tournament kicks off the show will run at 12 pm with a suitable repeat later in the evening," Headlines Today Srinivasan says.
