News channels look at scoring goals

My World Cup
will be a daily live show, anchored from Germany and presented by sport presenter Adnan Nawaz. Using technology never before used for this purpose, the channel claims football fans and armchair pundits from India, the USA, China, Brazil, Italy, Korea, Australia and even the Antarctic Research Station have already signed up to interact live with Adnan via webcam.

The channel will host interviews with special guests each day too and India’s Baichung Bhutia has been signed on to be interviewed. My World Cup will air on weekdays at from 5 June to 30 June.

Sport Today will be covering the results from the Fifa World Cup throughout the tournament.

THE INTERACTIVE ELEMENT



Interactivity is a key component and news channels are looking at various interactive services for engaging and creating relevant environment. Few have enthusiastically shaped up special sites, while the rest are looking at launching contests through the season.

CNN IBN is currently hosting a contest named World Cup Trivia. Channel7 is already showcasing shows, whereby the channel has brought in interactive initiatives like Spot the Ball and Identify the player. Venkatraman says more such initiatives will be launched once the World Cup starts.

Times Now will extend interactivity with mobile, web and Boots of Gold on-ground promotions in major cities.

Zee News has lined up a series of interactive shows. The Duniya Hai Goal bulletin will have coverage of the tournament with viewers’ comments coming in. The channel will also showcase Zee Team Player that will choose the best player of the day on the basis of his performance. This will be announced in the 7:30 p.m. bulletin.

The channel will also air interactive features like Team Would Win wherein viewers will choose via SMS a favorite team that’s likely to lift the Fifa Cup. Sahara, through the show Clash of Titians, will launch quiz contest to identify players and much more.

BBC, CNN, CNN IBN and NDTV have created a special section on their online edition dedicated to the tournament, providing comprehensive news and enhanced statistics.
