MUMBAI:
Mumbaikars have been deeply affected by the alleged molestation
of two girls by group of young men on the midnight of December 31,
2007. In the light of the matter, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM India’s
hottest radio station pledges concern and support to the wellbeing
of women in Mumbai with “Yeh Mumbai nahi hai meri jaan”
campaign.
The
campaign kicked off on the station earlier this month with specials
on the issue, focusing on the incident. The show has been receiving
an overwhelming response with listeners from across the length and
breath of the city calling in and sending SMS’s to the studio
to pledge their support.
Not
only have the Radio Mirchi jocks lent their support to the campaign,
but even celebrities and famous Bollywood stars have come forward
to voice their concerns. Exclusive bytes from celebrities like Manoj
Bajpai, Sandhya Mridul, Swanand Kirkire, Jackie Shroff, Rajdeep
Sardesai including old time favorite Neetu Singh, can be heard on
Radio Mirchi - pledging their support and appealing to listeners
to be aware and make an effort to avoid such incidents.
Even
actors of the recent Bollywood flick - Halla Bol (vidya balan, Pankaj
Kapoor, Ajay Devgan) can be heard on the radio station talking about
the risks and the benefits of ‘speaking out’ against such
issues.
