MUMBAI:
Kicking off its three-month long festive season programming, 'Utsav',
CNN-IBN presents a special on Ganesh Visarjan. 'Utsav - Ganpati
Bappa Morya' will be a half-hour show to commemorate the 11th day
of Ganesh Chaturthi with stories from Maharashtra, Karnataka and
Andhra Pradesh. Celebrity anchors like Smitha Jaykar, Sonali Kulkarni,
Mrinal Kulkarni and Swapnil Joshi will guide viewers through various
aspects of this elaborate and colourful festival as celebrated in
Mumbai where the entire city comes together for the immersion of
the Ganesh idols. The show will also feature Citizen Journalist
accounts, in the form of videos and photographs, to show different
perspectives of the resplendent festivities from across the country.
The show will air on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:30 pm.
On
September 25, CNN-IBN will air live stories through the day to show
Ganesh Visarjan celebrations from Mumbai and the rest of the country.
As this is considered the last day for the immersion of Ganesh idols,
major processions will take place across Mumbai wherein the large
ornate statues of the deity will be carried to Girgaum Chowpatty,
Dadar and Juhu Chowpatty in order to be ceremoniously immersed into
the sea. 'Utsav - Ganpati Bappa Morya' will round up the entire
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and provide a look into the various
facets of this elaborate festival as depicted by celebrities and
Citizen Journalists.

the next few months and includes some of the most religiously significant
festivals of the country. 'Utsav - Ganpati Bappa Morya' is an attempt
to capture and showcase an all-encompassing and pan-national account
