MUMBAI:
In a robust defence of his questioned National Guard story, Dan
Rather tells CNN’s Larry King that he thought the report was
correct: ‘And I think most people know by now that it was correct’.
 He
also suggests that the ownership and management of CBS: ‘…sacrificed
support for independent journalism for corporate financial gain.’
In
addition he is adamant that ‘The facts of the story, the truth
of the story stands up to this day’, before adding ‘And
what is journalism? Journalism is trying to get at the truth, trying
to separate bull shine from brass tacks. And the brass tacks were
in that story. The story was true.’
