United, Arsenal, Real live on Ten Sports

MUMBAI: Ten Sports, the most watched sports channel of the sub-continent, goes football intensive again with four matches in two days from the latest round of the high-profile UEFA Champions League – Europe’s biggest and most prestigious football tournament.

Ten Sports will telecast live action from four matches of Matchday Three (October 23 and 24), including English Premiership League champions Manchester United, current Premiership leaders Arsenal, and the ever-powerful Spanish outfit Real Madrid.

United will travel to Ukraine where they take on Dynamo Kiev. The match starts 11:30 pm IST on Tuesday, October 23, followed by Arsenal’s match against Slavia Prague at 2:15 am IST on Wednesday, October 24. The United-Kiev match will be repeated at 5 am, 11 am and 7:30 pm on Wednesday.

The action continues on Wednesday night, when 2005 champions Liverpool will hope to make a move up the table in Group A and secure their first win of the season against Turkish side Besiktas. The match kicks off at 11:30 pm, followed by Real Madrid’s high-profile encounter at home with Greek champions Olympiacos at 2:15 am on Thursday, October 25.

The Liverpool match will be repeated at 4:15 am, 10:30 am and 7:00 pm IST on Thursday, while Real Madrid’s match will be aired at 8:30 am again.

Group F leaders Manchester United have won both their matches and should have it easy against Dynamo Kiev, who are yet to score a win. And with both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo firing for United, Sir Alex Ferguson’s side should take three more points.

Arsenal have enjoyed a wonderful start to the season and their form has carried on to the Champions League, where they have won both their opening round matches. And playing at home should be easy for them against bottom-of-the-table Slavia Prague.

Olympiacos will no doubt be buoyed by their 3-1 win against Werder Bremen on October 3, which was their first win in 31 matches on the road. But no one will envy their task of facing a fired-up Real at Bernabeu. The Spanish giants will be eager to shrug off their loss to Espanyol with a huge win. The big reward for the winner of the match will be the elevation to the top place in Group C as both the teams currently have four points from two matches.

The UEFA Champions League starts in September and continues till the champion club of Europe is determined in May. The tournament comprises a group stage features 32 teams in eight groups of four, followed by four knockout rounds.
