MUMBAI:
The Moto GP circus heads for one of the worlds most impressive circuits
this weekend as they roll into Shanghai in China. The track only
hosted its first Moto GP race in 2005 but is already acknowledged
as one of the most impressive venues in the world. Huge grandstands
overlook the pit and paddock complex for the 3.281 mile circuit.
The bikes regularly exceed 200 miles per hour on two very fast straights.
After
the Istanbul leg of the circuit, China will be the 4th leg of the
season. Casey Stoner leads the way in his first season with the
factory Ducati team, having taken victory at two of the first three
races of the year. The Australian won the 250 cc race in China back
in 2005, and will be out to extend on his ten-point lead over Valentino
Rossi.
In
the 250 cc, Jorge Lorenzo continues to lead the way, but lost out
to Andrea Dovizioso in Istanbul. There is still 18 points between
the two men, but the close contest in Istanbul is a good omen for
a tight season.
In
the 125cc, Gabor Talmacsi missed out on the top 3 in Istanbul but
still leads the championship by 9 points from his teammate Hector
Faubel. Watch out for 15 year old rookie Pol Espargaro, whos
been impressing the crowds this season.
Ten
Sports broadcasts live coverage of every Moto GP race as well as
motor sport action from GP 2 and Champ Car all season long.
