MUMBAI:ESPN
STAR Sports, Asia's leading sports broadcaster, will bring LIVE
all the excitement of F1 racing this weekend with the French Grand
Prix. The channel will telecast LIVE and EXCLUSIVE the Grand Prix
from Magny-Cours with its signature show Race Day (pre race) and
Chequered Flag (post race) as part of its comprehensive F1 programming
for Indian viewers.
Lewis
Hamilton will aim for a hat-trick of Grand Prix victories as he
gets set for another dominating weekend. The debutant driver has
overshadowed all his contemporaries, including team mate and double
World Champion Fernando Alonso, in the season so far and will be
looking to cement his world championship aspirations with a flawless
performance again at the season's eighth race at Magny-Cours.
Fernando
Alonso on the other hand will be looking to shrug the controversies
to score a win on one of his favourite hunting grounds. The Spaniard
has been at its best but has not been able to move up the podium
to replace his team mate. Kimi Raikkonen would be looking to get
things in place this weekend as the scarlet car has been a past
winner at the scenic Magny-Cours circuit. After winning the season
opener, Raikkonen has been overshadowed by the McLaren pack leaders
and his team mate Felipe Massa.
Will
Lewis Hamilton score his third consecutive victory? Will his team
mate Fernando Alonso change gears to become the No 1 driver for
McLaren and in the standings? Or will Ferrari get back on par with
McLaren as the series moves back to Europe? ... A lot of key questions
will be answered this weekend.
Just
250 kms south of Paris, Magny-Cours makes for a grand setting of
the French Grand Prix. The circuit itself is a mix of slow corners
and tight hairpins. Magny-Cours circuit is unusual in the sense
that it is probably the only circuit where drivers cross the start-finish
line in first gear. Michael Schumacher dominates the record books
at this circuit, having won here in 2006 for a record eighth time.
