MUMBAI:
The culture awakening crossover film "The Bong Connection"
is slated for release all over the country on the 6th of July 2007.
Anjan Dutt's .first English crossover film .
The movie stars a plethora of powerhouse performers Shayan Munshi,
Raima Sen Parambrata Chattopadhyay, &Peeya Rai Chowdhary.
A warm hearted, hilarious, yet deeply touching drama about two men
in this crazy, global world, the story revolves around two characters
namely Andy(Shyan Munshi) who is a young. Bengali musician from
New York and the Kolkata based Texas aspirant Apu(Parambrata Chattopadhyay).
While living in a country that seems beyond Indian culture is not
what Andy can relate to, Apu is today's youth of India who sees
Bengali culture as obsolete and would rather live a free life in
a city like Texas. While the characters are not even related in
the movie, instances that occur within their lives form the essence
of the movie in its entirety.
The
movie, which has its roots embedded in the parallel genre, is commercially
viable and youth- centric. It lays impetus on the importance of
Bengali culture and the endeavour to revive it once again.
The
veteran director Anjan Dutt of "Bada Din" and "Bow
Barracks Forever" fame, seems to be excited about his latest
venture

is going to be my first experiment with directing an English language
feature film out of the country."
