DELHI:
How big is the biggest building, bridge or dam in the world? How
did the seemingly impossible structures come into existence? Everything
you did not know about the world's greatest structures form the
brand new season of National Geographic Channel's 'Megastructures'.
Premiering as part of Nat Geo's MegaThursdays band, Megastructures
will be telecast every Thursday at 8:00 pm from August 16 onwards.
Understand
the triumph of giant-scale engineering as National Geographic reveals
the drama, personal stories and the remarkable technological innovation
behind some of the world's most impressive structures. Picture yourself
driving on the Milau Bridge in Southern France, world's tallest
bridge, standing a staggering 1,125 feet high and 2.5 kilometers
long and is even taller than the Eiffel Tower; or taking an adrenalin
pumping ride of your life on the Kingda Ka, world's tallest and
fastest rollercoaster, with speed reaching 128 mph in just 3.5 seconds;
or skiing at the world's only indoor ski-resort at Burj Al Arab,
Dubai.
This
fifteen week series will showcase examples of ground breaking engineering
and awe-inspiring imagination through architectural marvels like
Dubai's World Islands, Ice Hotel, Petronas Towers and many more.
"Megastructures
takes a striking look at these amazing structures and machines,
which were once unthinkable engineering challenges but now stand
tall as the greatest feats of human intelligence and hard work,
making us re-think their definition of the word 'Big'. It takes
us inside these modern marvels to uncover the cogs and screws and
see how these mega-dreams became Megastructures", said Rajesh
Sheshadri, Vice President - Marketing, National Geographic Channel
India. "We intend to provide a Mega 360-degree experience to
our viewers through innovative promotions linked with this series
that will also provide our advertising partners an ideal opportunity
to reach out to the consumer" he added.
As
part of the campaign, Nat Geo has partnered with Café Coffee
Day for innovative on-ground promotion in 250 outlets across 40
cities. Café Coffee Day has introduced a special menu called
'Megabites' to celebrate the premiere of Megastructures with Nat
Geo. Apart from enjoying Megabites, viewers can win Mega prizes
too
the channel has planned an exciting Watch and Win contest
where viewers can win a trip to Millau, world's tallest bridge in
Southern France by just answering a simple question asked during
the episodes starting August 16th every Thursday at 8pm.
Besides
the above, the show will be promoted heavily through radio and across
leading TV channels through innovative interstitials. The interstitials
on Nat Geo include interviews with Indian personalities who have
changed the face of Megastructures in India including Delhi Metro's
E. Sreedharan, renowned architects Hafeez Contractor and Mohit Gujral.
