From infotainment shows to news coverage, CNN-IBN has initiated
the following on the journey of the South-West Monsoons across the
country:
The
Monsoons are without a doubt one of the most important lifelines
of this country with our daily existence directly or indirectly
being determined by this annual weather phenomenon. To welcome the
South-Westerly Monsoons this year, CNN-IBN initiated a special show
-‘Monsoon Raga’ – to follow the rain bearing clouds
from the minute they hit the Western coast and follow their journey
across the country. What makes the show different is its focus on
the cultural, social and economic relevance of the Monsoons in different
parts of the country. The show airs daily at 8 am and 7 pm.
On
the news wheel: ‘South-West Fury’ - In addition to ‘Monsoon
Raga’, in recent days daily headlines and stories on the CNN-IBN
news wheel under the segment ‘South-West Fury’ have focussed
on – 1) the anticipated arrival of the rains in parts of the
country like Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan and other and then 2) on the
havoc they have created since their onset in Mumbai, Bengal, Gujarat,
Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh bringing life to a halt. The news also
features stories on the rains’ impact on the local/national
economy and living with regards to vegetable prices, etc. CNN-IBN
is constantly bringing its viewers the latest news on the Monsoons
and its impact on the country.
