NEW DELHI: One Hindi print medium journalist and one news cameraman
are to be selected for the Udayan Sharma Memorial Journalism Award
for 2006 for original content created by an Indian or foreign permanent
resident and published in domestic media for the first time between
January 2006 and December 2006.
The Best Published On-the-Spot and investigative reporting of the
year in Hindi focusing on analysis, insightful reporting and the
presentation of key issues, and the best published photograph will
receive a citation certificate and a cheque of Rs. 11000. Two runners-up
will receive cheques of Rs. 6000 and Rs. 5000 with a certificate
of high recommendation respectively.
Nominations have to be sent in by April 30, the Awards Announcement
will be on July 1 and the award presentation will be on July 11.
Entries may be by the author or nominated by a third party, for
example, editor or producer, providing the originator accepts the
nomination in writing. An individual can enter/be nominated for
both the categories provided the items entered are different. An
individual may submit a maximum of three entries.
Entrants must be at least 18 years of age. Entries may be used in
Foundations publicity related to the Awards including, but not limited
to, reference or publication on the UDAYAN Memorial Journalism Award
web site, media releases, displays, publications and other promotions.
An independent jury comprising representatives in the respective
fields will judge the Awards.
