Philips appoints Vivek Sharma as chief marketing officer for India

MUMBAI: Royal Philips Electronics, specialising in healthcare, consumer lifestyle and lighting, has appointed Vivek Sharma as chief marketing officer for the Indian sub-continent

In his new role, Vivek will be responsible for the overall performance of Philips' marketing organisation in India. He will be in charge of the development and execution of an integrated strategy for brand development across the various business sectors.

One of the main thrust areas will be in the marketing organisation capacity and capability building. He will also be responsible for translating and bringing to life the global brand promise of 'Sense and Simplicity'.

As part of Philips' India Management Team, he will report to Philips Electronics India CEO Murali Sivaraman.

Prior to working with Philips, Sharma was with Mirc Electronics Ltd as vice president marketing and sales. At Mirc he spearheaded the re-launch of the Onida brand across product categories.

He has also with Cadbury's, Warner Lambert. In Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, he was working as the head of Unilever business in India.
