L'Oréal Brandstorm 2008 selects NMIMS for finals in Paris

MUMBAI: L'Oréal Brandstorm 2008 has selected Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) as Indian reprensentative for its global competition on branding and marketing communication for B-school students.

Team Chrysanthemum from NMIMS of Mumbai will compete with 37 other teams from all across the globe in Paris on 10 June.

The finalists will undergo a rigorous professional training in Paris under the guidance of Euro RSCG for the next two month. Euro RSCG is the advertising agency worldwide for Vichy.

The event is being held clearly from the perspective of recruitments. Through this event talents will be recognised who will then be nurtured to take on the role of a L'Oréal brand manager.

L'Oreal India director human resources Sujata Tyagi said, "L'Oréal Brandstorm provides a platform for the students to showcase their creative talent. It gives us an opportunity to watch them in action proposing new product lines, packaging designs, marketing strategies and advertising campaigns. Brandstorm is a high-involvement HR initiative which spans over nine months engaging the student community and the professors through rigorous elimination rounds."

NMIMS team coach professor Mala Srivastava said, "The competition has offered immense practical exposure to all the participants when it comes to the real world of branding and marketing. To meet the challenges of this competition everyone had to undergo huge research work studying all the four P's of marketing a particular product like Vichy. What the students have learnt from this competition could have never come to them from the books that they read."

All the teams had to do a case study on Vichy, L'Oreal's cosmetology product found only in pharma stores. All the teams had to work on increasing the marketing and sale visibility of Vichy by providing the jury members with innovative and applicable ideas.

The best team was then chosen by the judges to represent their respective countries in Paris for L'Oréal Brandstorm 2008.
