Sun TV hikes ad rates across network

MUMBAI: South Indian broadcaster Sun TV Network today anounced an increase in its advertisement rates effective from 1 February.

The Kalanidhi Maran-promoted media group, which operates satellite television channels across four languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam - issued a release to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) announcing increases in ad rates for all its channels ranging between 3-30 per cent.

Ad rates in its flagship Tamil channel Sun TV are up by 10 to 21 per cent; in Gemini TV (Telugu) by 15; in Udaya TV (Kannada) by 10 to 20 per cent; and in Surya TV (Malayalam) by 3 to 13 per cent.

For two programmes on Sun TV whose TRPs are extremely high, the hike in advertisement rates is over 30 per cent.

For other channels like Sun Music, Sun News, Gemini Music, Gemini News, Teja, Udaya Movies, Udaya Varthagalu, Udaya II, Kiran, the increase in ad rates ranges from 10 to 25 per cent.

Simultaneously, the slot fees (broadcast fees) received from the content producers have also been increased proportionately effective from 15 February.
