MUMBAI: As we get closer to the announcement date of the winning city to host the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, more corporate sponsors are stepping forward to demonstrate their support for Singapore's bid.

Over 500 corporate supporters have come forward in rallying behind Singapore's bid to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010. VISA is one of these companies.

VISA International country manager (Singapore and Brunei) Meranda Chan says, "With the announcement of the host of the 2010 Youth Olympic Games just days away, the excitement is mounting in Singapore.

"VISA’s experience as a sponsor of the Olympic Games since 1986 gives us insights into how important a country’s infrastructure and financial environment are in ensuring a successful global event. Countries that host global events must be ready for the demands of international visitors and dignitaries, especially those whose expectations are to travel and make payments with the same level of convenience and security they enjoy in their home countries."

The company adds that Singapore already has much to be proud of, not least of which are its world-class infrastructure, sound financial environment, dynamic tourism economy and international appeal – all qualities that are integral to be able to successfully host an event on the calibre of the Olympic Games.

In support of the Youth Olympic Games, VISA has displayed specially designed banners at Vivocity Shopping Centre, nine Golden Village cinemas and the Esplanade.
