MUMBAI: Asian Paints, in association with Elle Décor, launched "Colour Next 2008," its research-based annual trend forecasting initiative for the home and interior décor space.

A collection of five inspiring themes was unveiled by the company's brand ambassador Soha Ali Khan.

Each of the five themes - Blush, Techno, Synergy, Refine and Revive - is accompanied by 2/3 forecast colours representing the theme in its essence. In addition to the forecast colour. Each theme has a balanced palette of colours that helps create the décor.

Asian Paints VP of sales and marketing KBS Anand said, "Two things that make this research unique - its relevance to the Indian market and the strong research base which taps the socioeconomic changes as seen today in various contexts as well as the latest happenings in the allied décor industries. This is done in conjunction with the thought leaders in the field of architecture and design."

Talking about the new launch, Asian Paints GM of marketing Amit Syngle said, "We have forecasted a fine collection of 5 distinct themes, which symbolize the socioeconomic changes that we see around us today. For instance, Blush, one of the leading trends, celebrates the new age feminine spirit - may it be in soft flowing lines and contours or the fresh, vibrant palette emerging out of floral patterns."

When indiantelevision.com asked Syngle about the company's marketing and distribution strategies, he said, "We'll market our new product through the 20,000 retailers spread over the country. We have also brought out a booklet to help consumers choose the right decorative colour. In addition, we will organise architects and designers' meets in the metros and mini metros, where people will be able to ask them questions regarding home décor and colour."

With regard to pricing, he said that "the product will be within the reach of the common man."

The ritzy launch party was hosted by a number of celebrities from all walks of life - from fashion designing to sculpture. The event also saw a series of dance performances by Isha Sharvani.
