Leo Burnett, JWT reign at Abby 2008

GOA: The Advertising Club Bombay presented its much awaited annual Abby 2008 Awards tonight, with Leo Burnett and JWT India bagging two Grand Prix each.

The awards were given away in 14 categories for print and film, which were divided across 5 verticals - print, film, radio, out of home and integrated advertising.

In addition, there were six other categories that included ambient media, interactive digital advertising, direct category, film craft, print craft and radio craft. The last 4 categories were the Grand Prix awards for print, radio, film and integrated advertising where the winning entries from categories 1-14 would automatically become contenders for this award.

In addition to Leo Burnett and JWT, Mudra Communications Pvt Ltd also received a coveted Grand Prix while Ogilvy & Mather won the highest number of metals totaling a whopping 66.

This year, the Abby had received over 3,800 entries from across India. Judging for the creative awards began on 19 March, which was also the last date for entries for the media awards.  

The jury chairmen for the awards were as follows:

Select Direct MD Ramesh Iyengar - Direct category
Mudra national creative director Bobby Pawar - Interactive awards category

Leo Burnett national creative director KV Sridhar - Radio category
Alok Nanda Communications director Alok Nanda - Outdoor category
JWT national creative director Agnello Dias - Integrated advertising category
Abhinay Deo from Ramesh Deo productions - Film category
Contract chief creative officer Ravi Deshpande - Print advertising
