MUMBAI: Carat India has undergone a major restructuring process to strengthen its management team. As part of this, Carat Group India CEO Charles Berley Jenarius has been made country director of Aegis Media India.

Carat India has promoted director of strategy and operations PV Narayanamoorthy to managing director.

Additionally, Aegis Media Asia South CEO Richard Halmarick will take on direct responsibility for Aegis Media India and will oversee the appointment of a new CEO.

Announcing the slew of management changes at the organsisation, Halmarick said, "Aegis Media is the largest independent media agency in the world, with a unique client proposition and an unrivalled position in digital. As an organisation, we are determined to be the first and last word in communications excellence. The appointments we are making today show that we are investing in senior talent to support that ambition in India, so we can firstly build on our world-class Carat brand and secondly bring new services and skills to our clients in what is certainly one of the most exciting markets in the world today."

As Aegis Media India country director, Jenarius will be responsible for the building of Aegis Media's diversified services businesses. Aegis will either start up new businesses or take the acqusition route.

"Charles's core focus in his new position will be on digital, out-of-home, PR/events and modelling," Halmarick said. "These business sectors are important to our future growth and ensuring we are providing clients with fully integrated communication solutions."

Narayanamoorthy will return to India to assume his role as MD Carat India after serving various global/regional roles with Carat for the past nine years.

Moorthy's past portfolio included research, strategic planning, tools and software, training and product development for 12 countries in the region, spanning Australia and New Zealand to China. He has also represented the Asia Pacific region on the global products and services and media/IT boards. He has spent the majority of his 29-year career in media, and has also worked in a number of advertising agencies including Ogilvy & Mather and McCann-Erickson.

"Moorthy is a founding member of Carat India and is highly regarded in the Asia Pacific and around the world for his commitment and passion for the business. We are absolutely delighted that he is returning to India as Managing Director of Carat," Halmarick said.

Also, Carat India has appointed Rachna Saxena as senior human resources manager. She was previously with Star for 10 years and her last assignment was as the head of HR for the NGC Network (India) Pvt. Ltd.

"I will be closely involved as Carat India enters its next phase of development in a complex and challenging market and will ensure that the operation continues to grow and deliver strong results for our clients. We also intend to appoint a CEO from outside the company to take Carat India to the next level of success and during this search I will take on the role of acting CEO," Halmarick said.

2006 was a year of frenetic activity for Carat India as two new divisions were introduced - communications planning and econometrics, a new office in Delhi was set up and a completely new operation in Bangalore was also started.
