MUMBAI: Coca-Cola India launched 'India Extraordinaire - 60 Years. 60 Luminaries' - a special edition of the world renowned and celebrated Limca Book of Records.

The edition incorporates achievements of 60 stalwarts across 13 areas like medical science, literature, entertainment, defence, sports - giving out a wealth of information about each one of them to the readers.

Indian minister of commerce and industry Kamal Nath and Coca Cola company president and COO Muhtar Kent unveiled the special edition of the record book.

Limca Book record holders including Prof Pawan Sinha, Charuvi Agarwal, Kiran Karadi, Padma Subbaraya, Sudarsan Patnaik, Ruby Dhalla and eminent personalities like Sunil Mittal, Mira Nair, Naina Lal Kidwai, Rohini Nilekani, Ritu Kumar were felicitated at the event.

The launch event was organized in partnership with the India's leading industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Limca Book record holders including Prof Pawan Sinha, Charuvi Agarwal, Kiran Karadi, Padma Subbaraya, Sudarsan Patnaik, Ruby Dhalla and eminent personalities like Sunil Mittal, Mira Nair, Naina Lal Kidwai, Rohini Nilekani, Ritu Kumar were felicitated at the launch event.

The new website of Limca Book of Records www.limcabookofrecords.in was also launched by CII president and Bhart Enterprises chairman and group CEO Sunil Bharti Mittal.

The list of 60 luminaries who grace this special edition book were drawn by panelists Tribune editor-in-chief HK Dua and Jawaharlal Nehru University professor Dipankar Gupta.

Kamal Nath said, "I compliment Coca-Cola India for the Limca Book of Records - India Extraordinaire, 60 years, 60 Luminaries, which stands as a special and a befitting tribute to our country, and more importantly, the talent that the people of India represent. These luminaries showcase the indomitable spirit and energy of a new, young and zealous India. Equally, the luminaries from India portray our global face and the ability to seamlessly integrate with the world across streams."

Coca Cola Company president and COO Muhtar Kent said, "Limca Book of Records is a one-of-a-kind book that celebrates the extraordinary achievements of Indians across the globe. India is one of the world’s fastest growing economies, but what really defines the country is her indomitable spirit. The achievements of the 60 stalwarts captured in this special edition subtly reveal the grandeur of India’s 60 glorious years of independence."

The special edition book begins with the pages of freedom struggle showcasing the contributions of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, moves on to the literary pieces of Rabindranath Tagore and melodies of Kishore Kumar and the business strategies of JRD Tata, and Narayana Murthy. Renowned lyricist and poet Gulzar has penned the foreword for the book.
