MUMBAI: Unicef and Mobinil, Egypt’s mobile telecom provider have launched a partnership during Ramadan called "Caring for Children." The aim of this campaign is to increase public awareness, mobilize public action and increase resources for Egyptian children.

During the month of Ramadan, Mobinil will contribute a portion of its revenue per every call to Unicef. The donation will go towards Unicef programmes in Egypt in the areas of children at risk, child labour, young child survival and development and children’s media.

Unicef Egypt representative Dr Erma Manoncourt says, "We are pleased to partner with such a prominent company as Mobinil, which has a well-deserved reputation for its philanthropic work. It has a tremendous reach in Egypt and is able to deliver important messages about the situation of children to a wide and diverse audience."

Unicef and Mobinil also plan to collectively investigate ways in which telecom technology can be leveraged to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of education in Upper Egypt.

Mobinil’s CEO Iskandar Shalaby expressed his profound satisfaction regarding Mobinil's participation in this effort dedicated to children during the holy month of Ramadan. "In fact, it's a pleasure to continue our collaboration with the Unicef and other reputable organizations in such goodwill activities that enforce our corporate responsibility targets and contribute to the development of our society," he said.

The campaign will begin with its presence on television – using four different ads featuring children - and will continue later across print media, eventually culminating with in-store and awareness-raising event.
