MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is seeking requests for proposals (RFPs) in two commercial areas - tie-ups for licensing and merchandise and travel and tours with both agreements planned for the seven years between 2007/08 and 2015.

This is the first time that the ICC has looked for agreements of this length in these areas as previously they were made on an event-by-event basis.

The expectation is that by seeking longer term agreements, it will be possible to develop a long-term plan and identity for Official Licensed Merchandise and Official Travel and Tours.

All qualified and/or interested parties should download the relevant documentation from the commercial partners page of the ICC website at their earliest convenience. This can be found at: www.icc-cricket.com/icc/partners/

ICC manager – media and communications Brian Murgatroyd said, "Licensing and merchandising can be anything from apparel to souvenirs and gift items and this area will have the potential to include branded product collections.

"What we are looking for is high-quality items that contribute in a positive way to the image, look and feel of the event as well as giving those fans that buy them a great keep-sake of an exciting and memorable experience.

"By seeking a travel and tours partner we want to ensure that when supporters book what is often the holiday of a lifetime they can do so with confidence that they will be getting something of high quality in keeping with their aspirations.

"A key aspect of what we are trying to achieve here is to have tour packages offered at a range of price points and locations to ensure widespread accessibility to ICC events.

"By obtaining commercial partners in these areas we believe we will generate revenue which, as a not-for-profit organisation, we can use to help ensure our strong sport grows stronger," he said.
