IRS R2: TOI, India Today still leading English publications

MUMBAI : Media Research User's Council (MRUC) findings of Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Round 2 (R2) for 2007 data reveals not much of a change in the top 10 positions of publications from the previous R1 figures of IRS 2007. The survey was conducted from January to July 2007.

The top 10 English publication is led by The Times of India with 135,00,000 readership followed by India Today with 71,00,000 readership. Clutching the third and fourth position are The Hindustan Times and The Hindu with 61,00,000 and 53,00,000 readership respectively.

Readers' Digest with 49,00,000 readership occupy the fifth position.

During the period, in the top 10 Hindi publication Dainik Jagran is in the top position with 536,00,000 readership followed by Dainik Bhaskar with 306, 00,000 readership. Amar Ujala has registered a readership of 282, 00,000, Hindustan closely following with 235,00,000 readership are in the third and fourth position. Rajasthan Patrika stands fifth with 132, 00,000 readership.

The top 5 Bengali publications is led by Ananda Bazaar Patrika with 158,00,000 readership while Lokmat with 207,00,000 readership stands at the numero uno position in the top 5 Marathi publication. Daily Thanthi with 209,00,000 is at the top position in the top 5 Tamil publication, in the top 5 Malayalam publication Eenadu leads with 142,00,000 readership.
