Red FM spreads AIDS awareness among truck drivers

MUMBAI: Red FM in association with HP Engine Oil, Eicher Motors, World Vision and Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched an AIDS awareness drive. The drive aims to spread awareness among truck drivers about the disease and the ways of protecting it.

During the week long activity the Red FM volunteers will approach truck drivers and distribute AIDS awareness and prevention Kit. The kit includes condoms and other information materials. A special street play spreading awareness about the disease will be staged throughout the day and pamphlets will be distributed to the truck drivers.

Red FM Mumbai station and marketing head Anuj Singh said, "Red FM has always been at the forefront in initiating and partnering with civic and social initiatives under our corporate social responsibility (CSR) umbrella; 'Bajaao For a Cause'. Through the Red FM AIDS awareness drive we aim to create greater awareness about AIDS affecting the segment of truck drivers and also help those suffering from the disease."

BMC addl. municipal commissioner (Health) Kishore Gajbhiye said, "In the global battle to defeat HIV AIDS our aim to prevent HIV transmission amongst population at a greater risk of acquiring and transmitting HIV infection, which includes migrant and transport workers, we have joined hands with Red FM's Red ACTIV which has given us an opportunity to spread awareness about AIDS amongst the vulnerable segments including truck drivers."
