BANGALORE: General Motors India (GM-I) announced the opening of the GM India design studio in Bangalore today. The Indian studio, one of the eleven that GM has across the globe, happens to be the first design studio by any automobile major in India. On the sidelines of the press conference, GM-I director and vice-president P Balendran said that the campaign for GM’s soon to be launched SUV Captiva would commence early January 2008 around the time the vehicle is to be launched. According to Balendran, Initially the campaign would be mainly across print media, followed by TVCs’ on niche lifestyle channels. The Captiva will be positioned against the Maruti Grand Vitara, the Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson.

Balendran also informed that GM-I’s most successful campaign has been the Chevrolet campaign for which the creative work was handled by Enterprise Nexus, and the media buying for that campaign was handled by McCann-Erickson.
