MUMBAI: SeaChange International which provides software applications, services and solutions for Video-On-Demand (Vod), digital advertising, and content acquisition monetization and management, has appointed Simon McGrath as chief marketing officer (CMO).

McGrath reports to Seachange chairman and CEO Bill Styslinger. He is currently On Demand Group director, strategy and development.

McGrath has led strategic advertising, marketing, sales and communication initiatives at various global organizations including On Demand Group and Lysis SA, a software company specialising in advanced content management solutions for digital television.

Since joining On Demand Group in 2002 as its first chief technology officer, McGrath has played a leading role in developing joint ventures that create sustainable market solutions in the implementation of video-on-demand (Vod), Subscription Video-On-Demand (SVOD), IPTV and Pay-Per-View (PPV) services. He has created video acquisition, advertising and distribution business models for the likes of Disney, Sony Pictures, Virgin Media, Telefonica and Kabel Deutschland.

Styslinger says, “Simon is the perfect person to help drive SeaChange’s strategic marketing initiatives as the digital television industry’s growth begins to rely heavily on value-added software applications and services, specifically the creation of successful advertising business models for Vod.

"Simon brings a unique understanding of interactive media development and the acquisition, monetization and management of content to SeaChange.

“For 12 years, SeaChange has been successful deploying the infrastructure necessary to deliver Vod, which is evident in our unparalleled customer base. As we continue to grow, we will build off that infrastructure to deliver the types of advertising offerings, software applications, and media services that enable operators to develop new revenue streams and consumers to further personalise their digital video experience”.

McGrath says, “I am excited to be expanding my role within SeaChange at a pivotal time in this growing market. SeaChange is in a unique position to take advantage of the current market dynamics through various software and service offerings.

"Advertising is going to be a major focus and the company has successfully deployed dynamic advertising capabilities at a number of cable companies. We will continue to work closely with broadband operators around the world to create advertising-driven and other innovative business models that marry content and technology to grow their revenue streams and enhance their subscribers’ experience”.
