India wins advertising award at tourist meet in China

NEW DELHI: India received the 'Excellent Advertising Award' at the recently concluded China International Travel Mart 2007 in Kunming City, where it was invited as a 'Guest of Honour Country'.

India also won the 'Best Participating Award' in the mart, which was attended by 96 countries.

An 'Incredible India' Pavilion was set up at the travel mart in an area of 225 square meters, to showcase the varied tourism products of the country. The main entrance gate of the India Pavilion was a replica of Sanchi Stupa.

The Indian delegation at the mart was led by additional director general (tourism) Sanjay Kothari. A total of 17 tour operators from India participated as co-exhibitors in the pavilion to promote packages to India.

During the four-day event, outdoor advertising at different locations and on the buses running in Kuming City was also done to showcase India's progress and vibrancy.
