DD revenue down 13.6% to Rs 8.2 billion, AIR marginally up

NEW DELHI: The gross revenue of Doordarshan fell by Rs 1,287.4 million to Rs 8.18 billion in 2006-07, down 13.6 per cent from Rs 9.47 billion in 2005-06.

In comparison, the gross revenue of All India Radio rose marginally by Rs 148.2 million from just over Rs 2.69 billion to Rs 2.84 billion in the same period.


According to information given in the Lok Sabha, Doordarshan had gross revenue of Rs 6.65 billion and All India Radio grossed Rs 1.57 billion in 2004-05.


The revenue of AIR in 2006-07 includes earning of just under Rs 96.4 million from the World Cup 2007, Rs 11.7 million from the campaign of the Rural Development Ministry, and additional revenue of Rs 35 million deposited in Prasar Bharati.


The highest revenue among DD channels was shown by the National Network, grossing Rs 3.03 billion in 2006-07 while DD Sports showed revenue of Rs 603.6 million. The Kissan Channel showed revenue of Rs 965.2 million.
