MUMBAI: There was plenty of laughing, catcalling and whistling at the PromaxBDA Awards this evening. Amidst the boisterous atmosphere, it was Sony that came out on top winning 19 awards.

Seven of those were Gold. Sony made a clean sweep in the best comedy and best entertainment promo for Twinkle Beauty Parlour and Fame X. It also swept in the best holiday, seasonal special promo. Max's Cricket Is back campaign for last year's Champions Trophy won Gold. The promo for Fame X The Hermit on Sab won Silver.

Channel [V] won seven awards. Santa Banta Goa won Silver for best out of house station image promo. The broadcaster got the Gold in the best on-air branding category for [V] Presents Bai.

Star picked up a Silver for sales and marketing presentation for the campaign Star Movies beats HBO in 2006. Star also won Gold for Best Movie Promo for Rang De Basanti.

National Geographic Channel picked up seven awards. It won a Gold for its Fists of Fury campaign. NGC also won a Gold in the print campaign category for The success story trade campaign. It swept the infotainment and documentary promo categories for The H Factor and History Rocks.

Rival channel Discovery drew a blank. Zee too disappointed only picking up a silver for The Sopranos in the drama promo section.

Neo Sports, which launched last year, won its first two Promax awards. One was for Unbreakable Packaging promo which won the Gold for best title sequence. It also won a Gold for the best use of animation in a promo for Cube Animation.

The Rocket Award is a special award given for a creative person who has made a huge impact. This year it went to MTV India's K. Ayappa. The show was hosted by the inmitable Cyrus Broacha who sighed in relief when MTV won its only Gold in the sound design category for Roadies Deal. Its sibling Nick won Silver for Nick A Doodle Doo Symphonic.
