NEW DELHI: The Finance Ministry does not levy any service tax on sale of space for advertisements in newspapers, according to minister of state for finance SS Palanimanickam.

Answering a question in the Lok Sabha, he said sale of space for advertisements is specifically excluded from the scope of the taxable services under Section 65(105) of the Finance Act 1994.

Print Media includes newspapers as defined in the Press and Registration of Books Act 1867.
