MUMBAI: The Australia based YoungGuns Awards 2006, hosted by the Advertising Club of Bombay and O&M, showcased the award winning creatives by youngsters from four agencies on 13 March.

The awards were given away by Kristian Barnes, founder member and director, YoungGuns. "The Indian market for advertisement is moving upwards and getting only better. Next year onwards, we plan to bring more of these awards to India," he said.

The awards saw a total of 52 countries participate and India ranked 5th with a tally of four bullets - one gold, two silvers and one bronze. The other countries in the top 5 were US, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. In all, 13 golds were given away at YoungGuns, 2006, which went to 10 countries.

The Indian YoungGuns who took home the bullets included Mudra Communications creative group head OR Radhakrishnan. 'Cell Phone', for client Hindustan Motors won him a gold bullet in the radio category. The radio spot was a public service campaign issued to create awareness against using cell phone while driving. The campaign was shot against the backdrop of the much popular number from Bollywood hit Rang De Basanti 'Lose Control'.

The idea was to clearly emphasize not to 'lose control' at the cost of one's life. Radhakrishnan has also been ranked 19 in the list of Top 31 Young Creatives in the YoungGuns rankings.

After the major coup at the Abby's it was celebration time once again in the O&M camp as the men in black romped home with two silver bullets for their agency. Kunal Sawant got his silver for IAPA 'Bed, Book, Toys', in the Print Advertising Campaigns: Public & Community Service category while Abhinav Pratiman and Rishi Chanana, also from O&M, grabbed a silver bullet for 'Toys', an entry for Gillette India in the Outdoor/Poster Campaigns category.

Everest Brand Solutions' Nishant Sethi bagged the bronze bullet for 'Graveyard', a piece of work for Cancer Patients Aid Association in the Outdoor/Posters category.

While the four youngsters who won the bullets were felicitated, the other 14 finalists from India also had their work showcased at the event. Some of these finalists included young creative professionals from agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi, O&M, Ambience Publicis', Mudra and Grey Worldwide.
