MUMBAI: VGC has bagged the creative account for Sabre Holdings' travel portal Travelocity.co.in, beating the other agencies in the fray including JWT, TBWA and Rediffusion.

The size of the account is in excess of Rs 150 million, industry sources say.

Travelocity has awarded the media duties to Mediaedge TME. Eyeing the growth opportunity in India, the company will put in place an aggressive strategy to build their business here.

Travelocity MD Himanshu Singh told indiantelevision.com that the portal earlier was servicing the trade in the form of tie-ups with hotels and airlines but it would now move towards open access by people wanting to travel. Says Singh: "Our key cost centers include technology and marketing which will form a core focus for our efforts in India."

Speaking about the win, VGC COO Atul Hegde said, "A soft launch for the website in India has been implemented and as a partner in the business we will be involved in brand building, tactical functions, online and off line activities." .

Sabre Holdings has been operating in India for over a decade with two other companies, Sabre Airline Solution and Sabre Travel Network.
