Big FM expands marketing campaigns with the monsoon

MUMBAI: With all the radio stations expanding across the country, every station has chalked out some innovative and lucrative campaign to woo its listeners.

Big 92.7 FM, Mumbai has launched a 'safe monsoon for Mumbai' campaign, while its station in Chennai is promoting the release of Rajnikanth's Sivaji by distributing tickets and running part of Rajnikanth's other films on radio in a three hour 'radio film' show.

Big FM, Mumbai has tied up with Reliance Web World, Limtex and Monginis for its 'safe monsoon for Mumbai' campaign. The campaign is supported by the Best bus service and Mumbai suburban traffic.

The Reliance Web World outlets will provide live updates to stranded Mumbaikars from railway stations and high traffic locations, along with a free wireless PCO for people to make calls to keep their families informed of their safety by arrangement with Reliance Communications.

Facilities for mobile charging units along with free tea and coffee and thick plastic bags to protect documents and handbags will be provided, along with efforts to provide any other assistance necessary.

Limtex, a weather forecasting organisation will provide the weather updates to the listeners. The 150 Monginis outlets across Mumbai identified by Big FM as flood 'watch points' will provide support and relief. The BEST bus service and Mumbai suburban traffic will provide flood, traffic jam and road diversion updates.

The station has also appointed 20 'Monsoon Wardens', which comprises of citizens of Mumbai living in buildings located in areas that are prone to water logging across the city. The 'Monsoon Wardens' are from Kurla, Sion, Bandra, Chembur, Sewree, Ghatkopar, Khar, Mahim, Santacruz, Andheri, Malad, Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivili, Dadar, Currey Road and other areas.

As part of the campaign, the programme schedule will have live shows, theme weekends, a celebrity show and drive show. The drive show will be hosted on a mobile studio which will travel to the flood prone places.

The DCP Mumbai Suburban Traffic Harish Baijjal informed that a force of 2400 police constables have been deployed in the city to help flood stricken people. There are 140 CCTV cameras, 20 virtual messaging signs at 30 feet high tower all over the city.

Baijjal said, "Radio is the lifeline of the city. I appreciate the efforts of Big 92.7 FM and urge motorists to listen to radio while travelling- for updates. I also urge the media to provide credible information to the public & to avoid misrepresentation."

Dhanda added that the safe monsoon campaign will be launched in other flood prone cities like Kolkata.
