Madhukar Kamath replaces Srinivasan Swamy as AAAI president

MUMBAI: Madhukar Kamath has been elected as the president of the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) for the year 2007-08.

Kamath is currently the MD and CEO of Mudra Communications Pvt Ltd and he replaces Srinivasan Swamy for the post. JWT CEO Colvyn Harris has been elected as vice president.

The other elected members of the executive committee for the ensuing year include Anil Kapoor (FCB Ulka Advertising), Jagdip S Bakshi (Contract Advertising), Mahesh Chauhan (Rediffusion-DY&R), Nagesh Alai (Interface Communications), Nirvik Singh (Grey Worldwide India), Pranav Premnarayen (Prem Associates Advertising and Marketing), Rajeev Ruia (Overture Communications), Sam Balsara (Madison Communications), Snehal Parikh (TV Ads), Sudhir P Ghate (Magnum Intergrafiks), Suman Srivastava (Euro RSCG Advertising), Surajit Nag (Advertising and Sales Promotion Company), Tapas Gupta (BEI Confluence Communication) and Vinod Nair (Network Advertising).

Immediate past president, Srinivasan K Swamy who is the chairman and MD of R K Swamy BBDO will be the ex-officio member of the new AAAI executive committee.

The AAAI is the apex body of advertising agencies in the country, which comprises of 84 members who account for approximately 90 per cent of all the advertising business placed in the country.
