Nike wins case over fake shoes in China

MUMBAI: Nike has won lawsuits against two Chinese shoemakers and the local operations of a French supermarket chain over the alleged illegal copying of its Air Jordan logo.

Reportedly, a Shanghai Intermediate Court has awarded Nike a total of 350,000 yuan ($46,100) in damages from Jinjiang Longzhibu Shoe Co., Jinjiang Kangwei Shoe Co. and retailer Auchan.

According to previous reports, Nike had sought 1 million yuan ($131,000) in damages.

Shoes carrying a fake logo of former Chicago Bulls champ Michael Jordan, for which Nike holds exclusive copyrights, was being sold for about 100 yuan ($13) in outlets operated by the Auchan retail chain in Shanghai and in the neighbouring city of Ningbo.
