Malaysian tourism campaign films win two awards

NEW DELHI: "Malaysia Now", a global online campaign, won the gold while the silver went to the 60-second TV commercial themed "The Time is now, The Place is Malaysia" at the tourism film competition Das goldene Stadttor (The Golden City Gate).

Early in the year, the southeast tourist destination was named the "Best Tourism Destination 2006" by the American business travel magazine Global Traveler.

Das goldene Stadttor was organized during the world's largest tourism exhibition, ITB, in March 2007. The award-winning tourism campaign was developed for Tourism Malaysia by the advertising agency ISC Malaysia to mark the Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

The competition provided a platform to city councils, tourism communities, economic communities, hotels, airports, shipping companies and the tourism industry to present their films to an international audience at the ITB Fair cinemad.

A jury comprising members of the tourism, film and public relation industry as well as official institutions evaluated the film and advertising materials and awards are given in in gold, silver and bronze for the Stadttourismus (City Tourism), Region (Tourism Regions), Wirtschaft (Economy), Event, Hotel, TV-Magazine, Spots as well as Print and Online Advertising.
