MUMBAI: PDM India has announced its foray into the wedding planning domain with the launch of a Wedding Management Services (WMS) division to be headed Aditya Motwane.

Accodring to an official announcement, PDM-WMS will function as a complete wedding solutions provider instrumental in managing, organizing and executing medium and large format weddings in India and across foreign locales.

Motwane, "The Indian wedding industry, which is currently estimated at INR 55,000 crore is all set to grow by 25 percent annually. The average minimum budget for an upper middle class Indian wedding ceremony is anywhere between INR 50,00,000 - INR 2 crores and is increasing with every passing day, while the upper class is known to spend upward of INR 4 crores onwards (an average American wedding costs US$ 26,327 or INR 10 Lacs)."

PDM's entry into this space kicked off with its management of The Sahara India Pariwar wedding in 2004, which was followed by large weddings from the Diamond market fraternity in Mumbai in 2004 and 2005.

"PDM-WMS will look at capitalizing the opportunities that exist in the burgeoning middle class weddings and the NRI / International populace looking at India as an exotic location", Motwane adds.
