Venky's India signs deal with Globosport to co-host Kingfisher Open

MUMBAI: Venky's India Limited has signed a $ 380,000 deal for a period of two years with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi's company, Globosport. Both the companies will together host the Kingfisher Open ATP tournament, debuting in Mumbai.

The deal is in alignment with the company's overall strategic direction in promoting the range of sports nutritional supplements. Venky's sport's and research centre is closely working with the Sports Authority of India to enhance the health and nutrition of the athletes for Olympics 2008, informs an offficial release.

Venkateshwara Hatcheries Limited CEO OP Singh said, "The Venky's brand is synonymous with high quality and ranks among best in the world. With such events, we would like to encourage children, youth and women of our country participate in sports and compete globally."

Managing director of Globosport Mahesh Bhupati, said, "Globosport is extremely pleased that a leading brand like Venky's is partnering with the Kingfisher Airlines Tennis Open. This partnership will go a long way in making the tournament a world class event and also help raise the profile of tennis in India. We are certain that the event will add value to their brand strategy."

The ATP tournament is slated to be India's biggest international tennis event involving leading Indian ATP stars like Leander Paes and top seed international players like Tommy Robredo, Mario Ancic, Carlos Moya, Tomas Berdych. The tournament is being held at Cricket Club of India (CCI) from 25th September 2006 and will culminate with the finals on 1st October 2006, the release adds.
