Samsung's Diwali offer gives gifts worth 450 mn; launches new product range

MUMBAI: In line with the festive season Samsung India has announced the launch of its Mega Festival Promotion 'Diwali Jackpot, Gifts Sureshot', on an all India basis. This promotion, promises assured gifts worth more than Rs 450 million, which will be available on all Samsung audio video and home appliance products being sold by the company from 15 September to 31 October 2006.

The promotion will offer gifts for consumers across different product segments. For low priced products like DVD players, MP3 Players, solo microwave ovens and 15" Flat TV, the company is giving away a Parka Glass set.

For mid-end products like Flat TVs, refrigerators (Frost free and Direct Cool), washing machines (Fully auto and semi auto), air conditioners and microwave ovens, a consumer can get an assured gift, which is one of the four gift options available. These options include - a Bombay Dyeing linen set, a toaster, a Parka five piece set and a five piece non stick cookware - with a scratch card deciding the gift that has been won by the consumer.

For the hi-end purchases like a Samsung 32" and 40" LCD TV or any Plasma television, a Samsung customer will walk away with a Samsung high definition(HD) DVD Player. Samsung customers purchasing a Samsung Side by Side refrigerator, a Front loading washing machine or a 20" LCD TV will get a 20 piece Parka Gift set from the Company. A 26" LCD TV buyer will get an assured gift of a Samsung DVD Player, informs an official release.

Samsung India is targeting a total business of Rs 850 crores during the promotion period. "We are expecting to garner a growth of 37 per cent over our festival sales in the corresponding period in the previous year," said Samsung India Deputy MD R Zutshi.

Just ahead of the promotion period, Samsung has launched a slew of new digital media products and plasma televisions for its consumers. The new products include, the Samsung 'NV' series in Digital Still Cameras comprising of NV10: NV7: Slim Camera with 7x zoom and NV3: World's firstcamera with MP3 and stereo speaker in-built functionality.

In addition to the NV Series, Samsung has also launched three more products in the DSC category; Digimax i6: camera with portable media player feature in a Digicam; Digimax L-85: HDMI camera and Digimax L60: a six Mega pixel camera with powerful MPEG4 VGA recording (30fps movie clip). With the introduction of the new DSC range, Samsung has eleven DSC models priced in the range between Rs.8,990 and Rs.49,990.

Samsung India, which is a market leader in the Flat Panel television category in India, has strengthened its Plasma lineup by launching its Q7 Series of Plasma TVs in 106 cm (42") and 127 cm (50") screen size segments. These HD Ready Plasma TVs are differentiated on account of their FilterBright technology for sharper, deeper and brighter display in any lighting condition; Smooth Motion Driver for clear and smooth image even in fast moving scenes and their 13-bit processing capability for an amazing display of 549 billion colours. With the launch of these new Plasma models, Samsung now has a lineup of 4 Plasma models in 42" (2 models), 50", and 63" screen sizes, priced in the range between Rs.99,000 ~ Rs.7,00,000, adds the release.

In addition to the new product introductions, Samsung India plans to enhance its visibility in the second half of the year by carrying out over 100 Dream Home RoadShows in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities and by setting up attractive LCD displays in multibrand counters all over the country.
