Star ropes in Karen Davidson as SVP ad sales

MUMBAI: Star has announced the appointment of Karen Davidson as senior vice president, advertising sales. Based in Hong Kong, she will report to Star executive vice president, advertising sales, distribution and marketing Bruce A. Oltchick.

In her capacity Davidson will oversee Star's advertising sales activities for the company's regional markets including Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. She will develop and implement advertising sales strategies and provide integrated marketing opportunities and value-adding initiatives to forge partnerships with advertisers. She will also be responsible for the sponsorship, research, traffic and presentation divisions at star, states an official release.

"We are delighted to have Karen joining us from Fox Cable Networks, spearheading our ad sales efforts throughout our regional markets," said Oltchick. "I have no doubt that Karen's vast international experience in ad sales and her in-depth knowledge of the media industry will bring a new dimension to developing strategic solutions for our clients while spurring the growth of our advertising functions throughout the territory."

Davidson comes to Star with more than 25 years of experience in advertising sales, media and marketing and prior to this she was vice president, integrated sales and marketing of Fox Cable Networks. Over the years, she has worked in various advertising sales capacities for media and Internet companies as well as advertising agencies including IFILM Network, bluemountain.com, MTV Networks and Spelling Entertainment.
