Bisleri looks to invest Rs 1 billion in new venture

MUMBAI: Bisleri International chairman Ramesh Chauhan has announced the first major initiative with an investment of over Rs 1 billion in its latest offering 'Bisleri Natural Mountain Water'. In sync with its objective of taking customers back to nature, Bisleri has also changed its corporate colours from blue to 'Aquagreen'.

Speaking on the occasion, Chauhan said, "Bisleri has been synonymous with the purest form of water available in the Indian market which has over the years won the trust and confidence of consumers. Our foray into the spring water segment is aligned with the evolving customers' needs and we are certain that with our proven quality and purity standards we will become market leaders in the premium segment as well."

The Bottled Water Industry is worth Rs 10 billion in India. It is growing at the rate of 40 per cent a year and is expected to reach Rs 50 billion by 2010. With Natural Spring Water accounting for 5 per cent of the entire segment, Bisleri is looking at further strengthening its leadership position in the bottled water industry by expanding its presence and product offering.

With the company's marketing infrastructure and distribution system to carry Mountain Water all across India, Bisleri guarantees to cater to the needs of every individual. Bisleri's distribution network consists of 23 plants across the country ensuring product presence all over India. The company plans to set up atleast four more plants in 2006-2007.

"We foresee a market of 10 million cases for Bisleri Mountain Water in the coming two years. The sales of Bisleri Mountain will further enhance our reach and distribution leading to a positive impact on sales. Being market leaders we command over 40 per cent of market share of the organized bottled water market and will expand our presence with this new product offering from Bisleri", added Chauhan.

"Bisleri Mountain Water is a new top quality product in the market, which is directly sourced from the foothills of mountains in Himachal. The source of Bisleri mountain water is a natural spring, which has no heavy metal or toxic substance and is free from any microbiological contamination. The water is high in bicarbonates like sulphate, chloride and potassium, which are proved to be good for health. Bisleri maintains high quality standards as specified by BIS and PFA," said Bisleri International Pvt Ltd. VP operations David Jacob.

'Bisleri Natural Mountain Water', from the house of Bisleri, emanates from a natural spring, located in Uttaranchal and Himachal nestled in the vast Shivalik Mountain ranges. Bisleri Mountain Water is bottled in its two plants in Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh and will be available in six different pack sizes of 250 ml, 500 ml, 1litre, 1.5 litre, 2 litre, and 5 litres.
