| The
Delhi finals featured 20 kids who were short listed by ESPN Star Sports and adidas
on the basis of few rounds of skill and talent based contest. The four winners
are entitled for an all expense paid two nights and three days return trip to
Germany for watching one match during the FIFA World Cup.
The
venue, location and date of the match shall be decided solely and exclusively
by ESPN and adidas. The information pertaining to location, venue and the time
of match shall be provided through a mailer to the winners. The other details
for the trip will be conveyed to the participating kids by ESPN and adidas during
the contest. Announcing
the winners, Jose Ramirez Barretto, Mahindra Uniteds Brazilian import said
at a press conference here today, ESPN Star Sports and adidas have given
these soccer crazy children an opportunity of a lifetime. As a FIFA Fair Play
Flag bearer, they will get a chance to walk on the pitch with the Fair Play flag
and experience the World Cup from the centre of the pitch. He
added, They will also get a chance to stand with their heroes and listen
to 60,000 people sing the National anthems of the participating teams. Being a
footballer, I can vouch for the excitement one feels standing with their favorite
stars at the centre of a football pitch. The
winners will be flying to Germany on 20 June, 2006 and will be joined by children
across the globe. The winners from India will be a part of World Cup match between
Australia and Croatia on 22 June, 2006. ESPN
Star Sports in partnership with adidas had integrated the nationwide search with
Learning Ground, the on ground School program of ESPN Star Sports,
among 1200 schools in the country. The contest was purely based on puritan values
of the participating children who have unrelenting passion, immense knowledge
and skills of the game.
