MUMBAI: Celebrating 10 years of the best work in broadcast promotion, marketing and design on behalf of European broadcast, cable and satellite programming services, this year's Promax/BDA EMEA Awards will introduce a new award for Outstanding Achievement, presented to Canal+ artist director Etienne Robial.

The announcement of the new award and its first ever recipient was made by Promax/BDA EMEA senior vice president and managing director Carmen Alzner.

The 2006 Promax/BDA Europe Awards have attracted some 2400 entries for award consideration, a record-setting number of submissions.

"As a way of celebrating our tenth anniversary, for the first time ever in Europe, we will be presenting the Outstanding Achievement Award. This prestigious award recognises the talents of a unique individual who has, over the years, influenced the European design and or marketing community and who has demonstrated a keen understanding of the importance and value of TV marketing and design. Unquestionably, throughout his remarkable career and most certainly during his 22 years as artistic director for Canal+, Etienne Robial has made an indelible mark on the European design and marketing communities, if not the entire industry worldwide," said Alzner.

Robial will be presented with the inaugural Promax/BDA EMEA 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award during an Awards ceremony on 9 May that will include the presentation of the customary 2006 Promax/BDA EMEA Awards.

This year, the awards portion of the 10th annual Promax/BDA EMEA Conference, being held on 8 and 9 May in Vienna, Austria at the Hilton Hotel Vienna, will be sponsored by Disney Channel.
